Playing five roles in one night, Lola went toe to toe with an Ancient One and banished it (Normal mode).
I copied this deck for a first try with Lola. I swapped one Dark Horse for a Rise to the Occasion. Even so, Dark Horse played a big part in the first two scenarios, as did the Gravedigger's Shovel. After managing to take out the Ghoul Priest and acquiring Lita Chantler, she became Adaptable and Charismatic. Dr. Milan Christopher and Peter Sylvestre joined her entourage, leaving the two Malesons bitter and jealous. She also dumped a No Stone Unturned for a Shortcut. She did great finding clues in Midnight Masks but didn't have the actions to spend them after evading nightgaunts with Peter's help. The only cultist she beat was The Masked Hunter himself.
For the conclusion she added a new role to her repertoire -- the Mystic, buying Blood Pact. This helped speed the final scenario to the final showdown and helped her have the fight to beat a Deep One, a ghoul, and a Yithian (not sure how he got in the deck with the Cthulhu servants -- oops). Her new friend Brother Xavier took a fall twice, returning with A Chance Encounter for the purpose of absorbing and reflecting Umordhoth's first attack (she came into that round as a Survivor, used A Chance Encounter to revive the Brother, then switched to Guardian before moving in to Umordhoth's space, getting in a failed attack before X took the hit to deal the first two damage). The rest was handled with Lita and a Fire Axe, with Blood Pact and a Knife as the grand finale (Ummy did get in one more round but Brother X and Lita had kept Lola in good enough shape to make it through).

Oct 18, 2017Perhaps her madness is not that she's become lost in her roles but rather that she no longer realizes when she's not simply acting. |
Oct 21, 2017"The rest was handled with Lita and a Fire Axe..." You didn't apply Lita's damage bonus, did you? Outside of that, good show! :) |

Oct 21, 2017Alas, Umordhoth isn't a monster, so Lita's damage bonus can't be triggered. You do get the combat bonus, though. |

Oct 21, 2017Fair enough! Just got that impression from the way it was described. It's a lot of damage to deliver in one point increments, and it can be difficult to hit mulitiple times at 0 resources for Fire Axe damage. Obviously easier on standard, though. Nice work! :) |

Oct 25, 2017Curious why you added Blood Pact to the deck. You can only trigger abilities from Neutral cards and cards of your current role, so you can't use Blood Pact unless you switch to Mystic, so basically if you want to use Blood Pact, you can't use any abilities on any card other than neutral ones. |

Because you can change during any player window (once per round), you can, for example, attack with a Fire Axe or a Machete, then change to Mystic before the chaos draw. You do have to watch, obviously, that you don't need both roles in the next round. If you're leaning on Fire Axe, you probably want to go Mystic on the last attack, then flip back at the beginning of the next round. But then you can't do the same trick that round. As an aside, I was very luckily in Mystic mode when I drew Crisis of Identity. |
How casually you renarrate the big showdown between the actress against an Elder One! Almost sounds like she was telling about her latest tea-party... i thought, her job would require Lola to be more ...narcistic and bordering to hyperbole. So without overstatement she did a fine job, i congratulate!
