Version 1.1

This deck was created for a solo blind run-through of TFA (which I just acquired). Before going on its TFA run, I might take it on a warm-up through Dunwich first to see how it handles first.

This is one of my first decks built from scratch (with a little research ahead of time).

With some suggestions on BGG, added 2x .18 Derringer and 2x Guts. Removed 1x Pickpocketing, 2x Elusive, 1x Leo De Luca.

Any further suggestions or comments would be helpful.

Big shout out to the Youtubers "Playing Board Games" which helped demonstrate what makes Finn tick with their videos.

I don't think Finn's deck building requirements allow you to play 5 "different" Seeker and Survivor cards but 5 Seeker and Survivor cards overall. Unless I've misinterpreted the rules!

I've played Finn through TFA with a limited card pool before, so my suggestions would be:

  • Check out Lonnie Ritter with Trench Coat. She does wonders in TFA since Finn will fail a lot of will power tests and Lonnie can soak the horror via repairing your coat which also helps you evade better and can soak a bit of damage. The +1 punch is also relevant for Finn, especially solo.
  • Also, maybe consider Fire Axe over .18 Derringer since Fire Axe can help you swing real big in a pinch usually at least once which helps since Finn only has base 3 punch. Axe also synergizes better with Dark Horse imo, if you decide to commit to that build.
  • Lastly, I would go with Shortcut over Winging It. I like splashing for Shortcut better in Finn since Finn can pick up Lola Santiago later and get action compression on clue gathering through her instead. And Shortcut is almost always good!

Overall, looks like a solid deck though! Good luck fighting them snakes >:)

Thanks for the feedback!

Finn gets the "extra" cards because the .18 Derringer is "Illicit", and he can have an unlimited number of those at any level! So I'm a little reluctant to replace them, otherwise I'd have to cut something else to make that room. (e.g. if I replaced .18 Derringer with Fireaxe, I'd have to get rid of 2 other survivor cards)

For the Shortcut over Winging It, I think you might be right. But Winging It has been good so far.

I'm doing the Dunwich "playtest" first, and so far, Winging It has been good for getting an extra clue when it is in the discard, which has been really time efficient. But Shortcut has its own time efficiency to speak about as well! I think I'll swap 1 and see how it goes. If it works well, I'll swap the other.

Also during the playthrough, I thought I'd grab Charisma, then Lola... but 3 scenarios in, I haven't been able to do it yet. I forgot just how tight gaining XP is in Dunwich. But having Lola will be a bit windfall!

So far, definitely a different, and very interesting playstyle!

How did your test go in Dunwich? Have you already tried it in TFA too?
