In this deck, you will toy with Agnes Baker's sanity to devastating effect.
This deck is designed to be paired with a cluever who likes curses, like this Joe Diamond deck (https://arkhamdb.com/decklist/view/31448/the-accursed-academic-joe-diamond-phd-1.0).
The heart of the deck is to use Spirit of Humanity to both deal damage during any phase, and heal yourself so you can deal more damage.
Here's how you do free, fast, testless damage:
MYTHOS PHASE
INVESTIGATION PHASE
Attacks of Opportunity
ENEMY PHASE
Attacks
UPKEEP PHASE
This obliterates low health and aloof enemies, and drops odd health enemies into easy Armageddon/Shrivelling range.
SET UP FAST: with Scroll of Secrets, Arcane Initiate and Forbidden Knowledge you should get the cards and resources you need fairly quickly. Since you won't worry about clues, you can take extra draw/resource actions if necessary. An upgrade into Unrelenting can help as well.
HEAL THYSELF: Fearless and Spirit of Humanity carry the torch here. Holy Rosary can hold the spare bit of horror. If you're struggling with lots of sanity damage, Peter Sylvestre (2) is an excellent upgrade. Having an ally that heals horror, like Carolyn or someone with Logical Reasoning is also wonderful, but not necessary.
DENY THE MYTHOS: A Test of Will and Ward of Protection keep allies across the board safe.
SUCCEED ON ALL YOUR TESTS: Promise of Power is great early. Unrelenting and Live and Learn both synergize very well with Armageddon and keep you succeeding. The combination of Favor of the Sun and Ancient Covenant is absurd. I ran this deck with Cursed Joe Diamond, so I didn't want to use Favor of the Moon, but you could easily replace Favor of the Sun with it if it wasn't an issue, and run without a covenant. It helps if your partner runs Tempt Fate, as well.

I'll definitely give Sacrifice a shot--obviously the choice between cards and resources is better than the straight 3 discount. One thing I liked about Uncage the Soul is the action it saves; this deck tends to have plenty of actions at the beginning of a scenario and fewer at the end. The thing about Ancient Covenant vs Paradoxical Covenant is that the AC is essentially an automatic success--its very difficult not to pass when you've got +2 and no token pull. PC has to be used reactively with FotS (you have to pull the curse first), where AC is basically a free success button. Even on random draws, AC is still usually a guaranteed success if you see a single bless, where PC requires a lot more. |
Christ, how did I miss that Spirit of Humanity is available on Agnes and actually works quite well with her? I like the deck, seems well-balanced.
I would maybe upgrade Uncage the Soul into Sacrifice(1) because it works well with Scroll of Secrets and Arcane Iniate.
Ancient Covenant is strong here but I wonder if this deck would actually like Paradoxical Covenant with the Favor of the Sun.
