The original idea with the deck this one is derived from was to use Ally's for their abilities, but not to be afraid to burn through them as damage sinks. You want to pull resources to play powerful events and then when your deck gets low, play Quantum Flux to refresh your deck and allow you to draw your events and Ally's again. Similarly, Calling in Favors helps replace Ally's.

Some cards were replaced with what I think is a better suited card. This is also a beginner, level 0 deck. So, some experience 1+ cards had to be pulled for that reason too.

Replacements

  1. Shrivelling > Wither (does essentially the same thing, but doesn't use charges).
  2. David Renfield > 2x Holy Rosary (more permanent and less costly +1 intellect)
  3. Ward of Protection > 2x Deny Existence better version of effect since you make the test first, you take no horror, and this cost 0 resources)

Mulligan Strategy

Just as with the deck this is derived from, you want to mulligan for Dr. Milan Christopher and your Tomes, Old Book of Lore specifically to start the campaign. This will allow you to gain resources as you investigate (your going to need the money!) and find other cards you need along the way. Also go for Arcane Studies to allow you to boost your intellect when needed.

Upgrading

If you can upgrade the Archaic Glyphs or Dream Diary, do that since they upgrade to powerful cards and gives you more flexibility with investigating and making the most of one action that you do a lot. Don't forget your ID free action. Shrewd Analysis also gives you the ability to unlock 2 of the translated cards as well, but the cost is random selection. You also would need to clear a spot for the 2 cards. The option is there though.

If you decide to play Shrivelling, it has some nice upgrades too.

Arcane Studies has a nice level 4 upgrade that lets you replenish resources on it each turn (Arcane Studies), but Higher Education is so much better and costs less experience. Bonus, it's permanent! No fishing for it! It does require at least 5 cards in hand. This deck can branch out into boosting deck size and hand size too since there are a lot of cards that work well with large hands.

See the "Side Deck" for upgrade options to consider. I'd consider replacing Wither or Mind over Matter with Abyssal Tome as another attack option.
