Big thank you to Valentin1331 for the deck template and 5argon for the upgrade tool!

Introduction:

I was never really interested in Dexter Drake until I layed eyes on the awesome Shadow Gunslinger Deck by ElseWhere, which immedietly got me hooked on its idea of a gunslinging magician, but didn't work out for me as well as I hoped when I first tried it. With the release of one of my favorite cards ever, Scarlet Keys Dirty Fighting, I remembered this deck and tried to build around it.

While looking for a steady sidearm to my .25 Automatic, I saw the Enchanted Blade, a card I never tried before. The idea of a Rapier and Pistol wielding fighter immedietly reminded me of a character I have so much love for: Warhammer Vermintides Victor Saltzpyre, the Witch Hunter Captain. So I tried to build a thematic deck using him as an inspiration (even though he is, mildly speaking, sceptical of magic - ignore that part)!

When I tried the deck, I went maximum greed and started with 1 physical and 3 mental trauma (In the Thick of It + 2xArcane Research), Down the Rabbit Hole and Charon's Obol.

I quickly realized that the 3 mental traume are fine because of our 5 base and Liquid Courage, but the one physical trauma often felt pretty punishing because of Dexters low and health, so I would recommend starting with a maximum of 3 mental trauma and only take 1 Arcane Research. You can also run Ward of Protection or Deny Existence over Delve Too Deep if you want more safety.

Other than that, you can also opt out of Charon's Obol and start with Dirty Fighting or 2x Blur (both of which cost extra xp if you add them later).

The xp costs here are not quite correct due to Down the Rabbit Hole and Arcane Research. Also note that this is not a strict order and more of a guideline. Upgrade as you see fit using the free upgrade-experience and the amount of xp you have.

 Cost Total
Delve Too Deep → Jewel of Aureolus ••• 3 XP 3 XP
 2 .25 Automatic .25 Automatic •• 2 XP 5 XP
 2 Pickpocketing Pickpocketing •• 2 XP 7 XP
Faustian Bargain → Dirty Fighting •• 2 XP 9 XP
Delve Too Deep → Blur 1 XP 10 XP
2 Enchanted Blade Enchanted Blade ••• 3 XP 13 XP
Ineffable Truth Ineffable Truth ••••• 5 XP 18 XP
 2 Blur Blur •••• 3 XP 21 XP

 2 Heavy Furs → Bulletproof Vest ••• 3 XP 27 XP
Hard Knocks Hard Knocks •• 2 XP 29 XP
 2 Guts Guts •• 2 XP 31 XP
   Blood Pact ••• → 0 XP 31 XP
   Sin-Eater ••• → 0 XP 31 XP

Some Advice:

  • I only tested this deck in a 2p game with an investigator who can take care of himself early (Finn Edwards).

  • You will definetly need 1 or 2 turns to setup. You are not a fighter from the get go, take your time (if the mythos lets you).

  • If there are big enemies in Scenario 1, it might get really toguh for you.

Good luck, and may Sigmar and the Emperor bless your shots and your ravaged bodies!

Hi there, this must be one of the most thematic decks I've seen so far (I don't know the specific Warhammer character you're referring to, but I can sorta imagine what a gunslinger like him would be like; for instance, you can build characters like that in Grim Dawn). Anyway, seems you go all-in with the risk, what with both Arcane Research AND In the Thick of It. Since the deck isn't too XP hungry in its current state, what would you say to including Charisma & Delilah O'Rourke? The latter might synergies well with your emphasis on evasion. Great deck suggestion, thanks!

Hey! Thank you for the comment, really appreciate it. I would love to go for another ally, especially one as good as Delilah O'Rourke, but sadly she is level 3 and we can ony take up to level 2. Leo de Luca might be a good option, but I couldn't run that because my partner did. :)

Damn, totally forgot about Delilah being lv 3! ^^ Shame, she would have been awesome in your deck; thanks for the heads-up (random side note: I sooo wish Dexter could take Lupara... ). Another question: I know that you deliberately sidestep Dexter's more usual Mystic stuff, but does that also mean you'll never make use of his ability, either? It doesn't seem to be on the menu. :-)

Oh i definetly used it with empty spells, weapons, liquid courage or our signature Ally. Maybe not as much as other Dexter decks, but it definetly ist very useful when your stuff runs out. By the way, I like Lupara alot too, he would be such a great fit for it!
