I noticed no one on arkhamdb is using Agnes Baker with St. Hubert's Key, So I want to give it a try. I want to use her mostly as a Clue-getter, so the Key increasing intellect helps when i need to use Flashlight. Also the horror heal when i leaves play saved me while playing solo. Haven't tried multiplayer yet, but I might not need to accumulate horror so fast if there's teammates to control monsters. In that case i'll toss it out and upgrade Book of Shadows
Upgrade Priorities are: 1) Peter Sylvestre (for the willpower), especially if i throw out St. Hubert's Key.
2) Ward of Protection, each time i use it I take 1 horror, so being able to use it for any investigator makes Agnes's ability a bit more flexible. (e.g. I draw a monster, next, a teammate draws a treachery, I use Level 2 Ward to cancel, deal 1 damage to monster)
3) Fearless: horror heal without an action, upgraded has the potential for 2.
4) toss Hypnotic Gaze for Moment of Respite (not sure about this move though).
5) Then I think Lucky! should come before Shrivelling or Rite of Seeking. The upgrades to these spells seem like overkill
Any Suggestions?
Update 4/5/18. thanks for the input everyone. i guess its a good idea to skip the Key. what would be better arcane initiate or holy rosary. and how do you all feel about book of shadows to extend the life of shriveling and rite of seeking. Agnes seems to always have plenty resources from using forbidden knowledge. is it worth the action to add a charge

Apr 04, 2018The reason no one is using it is 3 fold: -2 sanity reduces the number of time you can use your ability before losing it. It's expensive and for 4 resources you could play rite of seeking instead, and she has the flashlight/look what I found combo and drawn to the flame so it's not like she needs INT very badly, hardly at all really in solo/duo. It's a unique asset so only one player can have it and so many others get so much more out of it. Overall there's no real reason to force a deck build around it, as you get very little mileage out of that +1 INT and can get clues without even using INT. |
I don't think you'll find the upgrades to Shrivelling or Rite of Seeking overkill in a 3 player game. The upgraded Rite of Seeking, e.g., lets you clear entire locations in one action. Immensely powerful. And the upgraded Shrivelling is even better.
