The main objective of this deck is to trigger Agatha's ability every turn and enjoy the "extra action" of playing an event from your discard pile after your turn.
The deck is not flashy but it works like a charm. Fast and effective cluevering and decent defensive cards.
Why Ascetic? Well, the deck is more than competent for a full campaign.
Why boring? I mean, there are way flashier decks that pull a lot of strings but this one is pretty straightforward and doesn't rely on much XP.
At least one asset or event that can seal, cancel or ignore and then as many Spell/Insight events as you can. Ideal opening hand would contain Olive McBride, Voice of Ra and a cluevering event.
Actually all of the Spell/Insight events, but I'll expand a little.
Working a Hunch, Drawn to the Flame, Correlate All Its Contents and Read the Signs are great ways to discover clues and it can create an interesting way to plan your turn if you know that you can play them after your turn ends.
Voice of Ra is quite incredible in this deck and being able to play each copy twice can put you on ahead of the economy event with the amount of events that you have. Similar thing Deep Knowledge.
Spectral Shield is quite helpful for survivability and it can be either extended with charges from your assets or played again from the discard pile. Additionally, it can be a way to discover clues for free with Oculus Mortuum.
The deck is very effective at getting clues so there is space for some defensive cards like Sign of Xelotaph, String of Curses and Ward of Protection.
None, but you can chose other cards to include. Maybe Working a Hunch instead of Read the Signs or something else instead of Call the beyond, that is there to recharge Eyes of the Dreamer.

Apr 24, 2025Yes! That's a great idea, I'm not a big of a fan of the 2 trauma but it is true that it makes possible to get 2 Working a Hunch or an upgraded Robes of Endless Night instead. |
Jun 23, 2025Arcane Research x1 and Down the Rabbit Hole work together to give you a single 2 pip upgrade per scenario, while limiting trauma. And Ascetic limits the downside of Rabbits. |
Nice! Even if you are Ascetic, you can include 2xArcane Research to upgrade your Read the Signs, Ward of Protection. Saving 4xp for other cool thing.
