This is one of a set of decks designed to create a demonstration set to let new players try the game out. The intention is to give new players a meaningful choice between chars by making each play a little different to the others without overly nerfing them to the point of not being fun. This does mean some decks are stronger than others but no one has so far has cared.

The other decks can be found here: [This section under construction - I will edit these as I publish each deck but bare with me it might take a few days do to the write ups]

Roland: Firearm based combatant with passive clue acquisition.

Zoey: Heavy duty melee damage purist.

Skids: Combat rogue with high evasion and burst damage options.

Jenny: Cash driven multi action generalist

Daisy: Clue hunter/caster hybrid with additional support functionality.

Rex: Ellusive heavy duty clue hunter

Agnes: Classic Mage

Jim: Melee/spell hybrid tank

Wendy: Stealth rogue, event driven reactive deck

Ashcan: Draw heavy flexible damage dealer and clue hunter hybrid

If you don’t mind proxying or some substitutions, the only restriction between using some of these together is in the unique allies though I have tried to minimise overlap by only allowing them to be in pairings I would not expect to be picked together very often (Milan in both seekers, Leo in both rogues etc).

Disclaimer: Where possible I have tried to test these decks, though some have had more testing than others and one or two are as yet untested. I have added a second disclaimer at the bottom where this is the case. As I get the chance to try them out I may well update them a bit. I certainly welcome feedback if anyone does try them out or has suggestions.

PLAYING AS WENDY: Stealth rogue

__

Hit and run Wendy's high base and throwing in the odd Stray Cat makes her a natural evader and enables burst damage options from Sneak Attack and Backstab when cornered. Alternatively just Elusively vanish as needed.

Its a hard knock life Well, it was until i looked at the cost curve for this deck and took it out. Honestly if people have suggestions on what to take out to put it back in (if only for the pun) please let me know. Ive tried to compensate for it with a few extra skill cards and the inevitable Lucky!. And its not unreasonable to use some of those events for their icons, especially if you get Wendy's Amulet down. Note that Oops! is essentially an alternative to Overpower when needed and can be recurred by her amulet even in the same attack.

Easy Street (searching) Clue hunting is provided by Flashlight, Perception and "Look what I found!". Note again that "Look what I found!" doubles up as a skill card if needed for parley checks.

Upgrading: Tomorrow is only a day away Cat Burglar is a natural fit in an agility heavy build. You might not get to exhaust the enemy, but you will get away. Peter Sylvestre v2 is another if its not in use by someone else in your team (such as Agnes in this demo set). Im yet to see a deck that Will to Survive isnt strong in, though it comes with a heft cost. Close Call offers another /evasion based pseudo-kill card which is an easy way to remove a (preferably non victory point enemy). Finally Lucky! v2 is never to be sniffed at.

Wendy Specific Disclaimer:

Wendy is perhaps the character i have least experience with. This is also the only deck in this set that i have never tested, or is not derived from a deck i have tested so this is possibly the place I would most appreciate any comments, particularly form any experienced wendy players.

I like that the deck has only one weapon and instead focusses on evading and dealing with enemies through events like Backstab or Sneak Attack.

It seems to me that it's a lot of work to compensate for Wendy's 1 and that it makes more sense to focus on her strengths instead.
