Important Note: Fortuitous Discovery = A Glimmer of Hope

This is a Preston deck I theorycrafted that uses cards from the upcoming Point of No Return Mythos pack and aim to make Taboo-Preston shine. I am using several cards from the latest Mythos packs that Preston can put to good use, such as A Glimmer of Hope and Moon Stone.

The idea is based off an older deck I had posted about a year ago that wanted Preston to have static buffers. I'm following a similar approach, though I'm taking a different direction on the execution.

The deck uses static buffers in the forms of (double) Moon Stone and Lola Santiago and uses Cornered as its main skill-pump engine along with Fire Axe, Dig Deep and Streetwise. Late in the campaign, the addition of Haste can take this deck to a whole different level.

Preston is obviously not a killer with this build, but he can easily deal with small enemies if he needs to and with the addition of Haste, he will be able to take 5 fight actions a turn if necessary. Small Favor and Trial by Fire are for the tougher guys of course, but most of the enemy handling should be done by your teammates.

With Lola Santiago and double Moon Stone you will be at 3 2 1 and 4 . Second Moonstone comes late, but until then you have Dig Deep and other skill pumps. With this statline, you will be able to shove off enemies with Fire Axe when needed and you will be able to collect clues consistently using Flashlight, Lola Santiago, Winging It and Cornered.

Once you have Haste, if you manage your turns carefully, you will regularly be taking 5-action turns. That can include fight actions, investigate actions, draw actions, or playing recurring events. We do rely on A Glimmer of Hope quite a bit and it will be unfortunate if we don't happen to draw enough copies of it during the game, which is why we should spend actions to draw as much as we can. Take Heart and Lucky! (2) can be crucial here.

Your gameplan is to play all your assets at once and start scooping up clues. Setup is slow, but it's well worth the effort. Protection from the encounter deck is provided via Fire Axe, Moon Stone, Small Favor, Money Talks, Lucky!, Rise to the Occasion, Dig Deep and Streetwise. Try to avoid enemies as much as you can. As said above, you 're not a killer. Let your teammates deal with enemies and focus on getting clues.

To elaborate a bit more on Haste, there are plenty of combinations of actions that can trigger it, but as a general guideline, you should keep in mind that you should aim to do similar things during your turn in order to activate it. As a reminder, I will point out that play action means to play an asset or event and activate action means to use an ability with an designator on one of your assets. That means that, for example, you can attack 3 times with Fire Axe or attack twice with Fire Axe and then use Flashlight for a 2-action cost. Likewise, you can play Winging It from your hand, then play it again from your discard pile and then play A Glimmer of Hope. This can be a good way to offset the action cost Glimmer needs to function properly.
