Overview

This is a Marie Lambeau deck that is very heavily focused on clues that I have built for a standalone scenario. With access to Level 0-5 Spell cards, you have access to both Archaic Glyphs and Rite of Seeking. Giving you the ability to gain multiple clues with one action. With doom on your assets, you are also given an extra action to either play or activate these Spells for free.

Using Knowledge is Power, you get another 2 more fast casts of your multi-clue spells. This also allows you to bypass any resource constraints when you don't have the resources to play your spells.

As Rite of Seeking has a really huge drawback, you will often has to use it as your last action, which means that you often also need the ability to do normal investigate actions. This, together with the fact that Archaic Glyphs require you to investigate with intellect, means that you need to ideally boost both and to maximise your investigating capabilities. To that end, I have stuffed the deck full of static and boosting assets.

With all 4 cards in play, you will have a whopping 8/8 / which comfortably allows you to successfully investigate without having to commit any cards.

The following cards also provide static boosts to 1 of these useful stats but they are often in play mainly for the on-demand doom that they can generate, will talk more about them later.

To properly utilise the ability to fetch multiple clues from Archaic Glyphs, you would often have to over-succeed by quite a bit. To that end, I have included several skills that can be used for either of the Investigate spells such as Promise of Power and Prophesy as well as one copy of Arcane Studies. By committing to resource generation in our deck, we have the ability to pump our Archaic Glyphs to a level where we are able to fetch a lot of clues.

Doom Management

One of Marie's strongest aspects of Marie as an investigator is that you are able to get a free when you have a doom on your cards. This is easy to obtain with many useful ally assets that provide us with an on-demand doom

With David Renfield, you get a 2/1 soak that fetches you resources for a free action. You are also able to get 1/3/6/10 resources depending on the scenario's agenda as well as board state. Resources are extremely important for this deck since we do play so many different assets. With David Renfield, you can easily get rid of him with Calling in Favors or Sacrifice or simply just taking attacks opportunity. Maybe you can just walk to your Guardian to save them actions. David Renfield also provides us with 1 which is useful for us but it is definitely not why we are playing him in this deck.

Alyssa Graham gives us a static +1 and also allows us to optionally add a doom if we want to. I usually will only add the doom if I am unable to draw my other doom-generating allies and/or I have a weakness that I would like to put at the bottom of deck.

Arcane Initiate generates doom and allows us to draw more cards. As this deck is often more bottle-necked by resources, the card draw is not as important to us. I chose to upgrade the Initiate as it might be useful to keep her when you already have a Doom in play on you

We included two Charisma in the deck because Baron Samedi is an asshole.

I added a copy of Blood Pact as an on-demand doom generator. However, as we only have one copy of Moonlight Ritual, Blood Pact is slightly harder to use. We also don't need it as often since your static boosts are often enough to get you to succeeding. Over-succeeding with your willpower also does not get your more clues. As such, it's use is limited to the witching hour or when you feel like you are able to afford the doom.

This card can be used to clear an ally asset and also save them for use later on.

This card can be used to clear an ally asset that has a doom before the Agenda flips over, it also grants us resources that we will often need due to our reliance on assets. We will start with Uncage the Soul if the deck is a campaign starter instead

This card can be used on any cards including Dark Pact which makes it the most flexible of the doom management cards. However, this card does not have other use unlike the previous 2 doom management cards.

Resources! Resources! Resources!

To fund this asset-heavy deck, I have provided a few cards that will generate resources for Marie

This allows you gain resources for investigating which is what you will be doing anyway. You also like to clear clues in a location due to your Hawk-Eye Folding Camera which makes it a perfect fit

This card sucks usually, but works surprisingly well for this deck. Assuming you are able to get maybe 1/2 of your boosting assets in play, you can often test 6 against 0 to get quite a significant amount of resources. Overkill doesn't hurt you anyway since you would be able to spend your excess resources to pump your skill tests as and when it is needed. It is also a Spell which means that you can use your free action for it which addresses a fundamental issue with the card, it's cost.

Enemy Management

Since Hagrid told Marie that she's a seeker, I chose to have her evade my enemies instead of fighting. I decided to use Suggestion as it has a high chance of being a Evade spell with infinite use with your high on top of your decent . In my standalone scenario, I only lost 1 charge as I used it to cancel an attack from an enemy. All my Evade actions succeeded by at least 2 because I was constantly evading at around 8-11 against X.

You can also optionally use a copy of Archaic Glyphs as it is often difficult to over-succeed for 6 investigates in a row. This deck also has a lot of action compression anyway.

Possible Campaign Starter

The rest should be straight forward downgrades.

You can also optimise the deck around the 14 free XP from Arcane Research, since this deck is built for standalone, it doesn't benefit from all 14 XP, with only 6 possible upgrades.

If you are feeling lucky, you would have to remove Crack the Case though.
