The deck builds on spell triggers. 12/33 cards are spells, including her signature weakness, but hopefully you can work around that with Scrying and Arcane Initiate.

is her most important stat since Rite of Seeking, Shrivelling and Blinding Light rely on it, so I went for flexibility with her skill cards first. Second best stat is , and since she can't fight well, the Manual Dexterity should help with evades. Flashlight is for some facility investigating in case you can't get to your Rite of Seeking.

Will amend the deck as we expand our card pool!

A few thoughts: Rise to the Occasion is not very good, unless you are playing on Easy or possibly Normal, but even then, there are better cards. Scrying is not terrible, but is extremely slow and cumbersome to use, and occupies an Arcane slot which is not so great as it competes with Shrivelling and Rite of Seeking. Clarity of Mind is the same: extremely action inefficient and competes with your other spells. Running 2x Manual Dexterity seems hardly necessary when you should be running Peter Sylvestre and are running 2x Blinding Light. Forbidden Knowledge is typically superior to Emergency Cache as it can essentially be thought of as an additional weapon, as the 1 horror it deals can be used to deal 1 damage to an enemy at your location via Agnes' reaction ability.

We have only played on Normal so far, so I may be overvaluing Rise to the Occasion. Since she is a 5/2/2/3 I thought the flexible +3 would be useful. What would you recommend in its place?

Scrying is definitely not first choice of spells, but I was trying to maximize Heirloom of Hyperborea and Arcane Initiate, so I loaded every 0xp spell we currently own into the deck. Probably better once we have the exp to buy Book of Shadows so the slot isn't at such a premium. Would be happy to swap these for Hypnotic Gaze or Storm of Spirits once we own them.

Manual Dexterity was included because her only fight is Shrivelling, and evading may be her best strategy (since she is 3). I can definitely see the value in Peter Sylvestre, aside from the competition with Arcane Initiate for Ally assets. May drop these, but for what? 2x Pete?

Forbidden Knowledge is probably the best argument for Peter Sylvestre. May definitely try that swap.

One trait of Mystics is that they tend to use for as many of their skill tests as possible, whereas other classes would have to use , , or . You should try to prioritize tools that help you do that rather than attempt to shore up their weaker stats.

To that end I'd also recommend a second Holy Rosary instead of Rabbit's Foot. Holy Rosary is just insanely good, and you want to get it out as soon as possible, as is such a powerful defensive stat for everyone, and is a powerful everything stat for Mystics.

Defeating enemies is almost always preferable to evading, outside of a few specific instances. Agnes has the to reliably fight, and to evade if necessary with tools such as Blinding Light.

Arcane Initiate is simply a means to an end-- a way of searching your deck to get your spells out ASAP. Once this has been accomplished, possibly even within your initial draw and mulligan, the level 0 Arcane Initiate has little use, especially since she places a doom on the agenda when you bring her out. While you can certainly just kill her off, once you have your spells, she is of limited use. You should still run 2x Arcane Initiate to reliably search your deck for your spells, but add 1x Peter Sylvestre to replace her with when you draw him. The upgraded Peter Sylvestre is Agnes's most desired Ally, and once you have him out, it's extremely unlikely you would let him die or dismiss him if you can help it. (Cards like Ward of Protection are extremely useful for this purpose.)
