Introduction
This is an attempt to leverage Kate's . I believe she is meant to fearlessly hang around with enemies and use them as test subjects.
Agility
Boost with Dissection Tools. This deck can't easily defeat enemies at first, so hang around with your slayer a bit. Boost even more with Hyperawareness and skill cards.
Evasion powers up your Microscope, and the potential to evade makes it safe to Eavesdrop or be with an enemy to use Scene of the Crime. It's especially fun to Transmogrify something and get its clues.
If there's no enemy around to evade, Scout Ahead.
Your Job
Investigate with at least a Magnifying Glass in hand. Your is decent, but not great. Using the investigate action on the Chemistry Set is fine. You can boost with Hyperawareness when desperate.
Prioritize Investigating with the evidence-loaded Microscope double-action when you can gain at least two clues with it, preferably more. But when shroud is high, or time is tight, efficiency may need to be sacrificed.
Empirical Hypothesis will boost card draw and should be left on "Succeed by 3 or more" unless you enjoy a card only when failing tests.
The extra hand slot from Dr. Charles West III nice. He combos well with Chemistry Set: you get something nice when you succeed by 1, 2, 3 or 4!
Flux Stabilizer
Meanwhile, play your clue-manipulation mini-game to get little bursts of +2 on you skill tests. It's awesome when you can get in a rhythm of getting a clue, moving it to a science asset, and using the boost to investigate again.
Experienced Ideas
Priority upgrades are Hiking Boots and Steady-Handed. Consider dropping Hyperawareness (you don't have the resources for it anyway) and Scout Ahead. Next, upgrade your Microscope.
"Fool me once..." is great to use on Failed Experiment, Gené Beauregard and Prophesiae Profana provide more . Hyperawareness is the only version of that card you have enough resources to actually use much.

Dec 06, 2024Thanks for the kind words and suggestions. Two things somewhat mitigate the lack of resources. First, everything but Dr. Charles West III and "I've got a plan!" cost two resources or less, and second the only assets you really need to play to get going are Magnifying Glass and Microscope. However, the concept of using Hyperawareness for emergency skill boosts (when you've no clues and no appropriate skill card) hasn't actually come up in my play-tests: dropping it for Emergency Cache is a good idea. |
Very cool theme deck, but severely lacking on the economy front. I would ditch out Hyperawareness all together and stick to good ol' Emergency Cache and only if you plan to use Chemistry Set primarily for resources. If you wish to employ Chemistry Set for other effects you should include even more economy. You will need 30 resources to play all needed cards. Scenario lasts around 14 turns, so you will be lacking 11 resources total without even counting Hyperawareness usage, and you will need the most at the start of the scenario.
