This deck centers wholly around Ornate Bow. You will be the dedicated fighter with almost zero redundancy (something I hate in decks), while still maintaining consistency.
Main Strategies & Synergies
- Fight with the Ornate Bow and use every opportunity to reload it to have it ready when needed.
- Obfuscation, Hand-Eye Coordination, and On the Lam directly help you avoid attacks of opportunity provoked by reloading.
- Cleaning Kit lets you fire at will without needing to reload.
- Venturer lets you reload without having to use the reload action. Pro tip: If you have Cleaning Kit out, ALWAYS place the supply from Venturer there, because it has no limit, as opposed to the bow.
- Emergency Cache is a banger here! Of course, you can always get some emergency resources with it, but the card really, really shines when you use it to you fill Cleaning Kit. 4 arrows without reloading is HUGE.
- A second copy of Sleight of Hand might make sense, but I found it to be a bit too situational to have it clot your hand. Although you can use it to emergency-play the bow itself, ideally you use it on Cleaning Kit to spend your turn spraying arrows.
What the FAQ
Q: Consistency? How? A: 1) Hard mulligan. 2) Backpack. 3) Tetsuo Mori.
Q: Why Skids? A: His card pool access, signature event, and investigator ability all synergize with the bow (avoiding attacks and extra actions for reloading).
Afterthoughts
- Geared Up is not really necessary, but with Backpack it is relatively save to say it will be of use. If you don't like the risk of not finding 3 items, better leave it out.
- Relentless is only there to benefit from overkills, because the bow always does 3 damage and this deck has no means of doing 1 or 2 damage (not counting the bad basic fight action). Sometimes, enemies will have 1 or 2 remaining health. Relentless softens the frustration from the wasted damage, but is by no means necessary for this deck.
- Bank Job is mainly here if you have time (and no enemies) to kill. You can boost your account for extra actions or help your cluever increase their tempo.
Outtakes
- Prepared for the Worst/Prepared for the Worst offers additional consistency, but can also whiff and is otherwise wasted. I found Backpack much more efficient.
- I always want to like Snipe, but I never had a positive experience with it. For this reason it is not worth the card slot and action to me.
- Marksmanship is a (literal) killer, but ideally you cling to you cleaver anyway. For most aloof enemies and far-spawns (like Acolyte) 4 damage is just insane overkill (but might make sense if you are going all in with Relentless), so I would argue you should just spend the extra actions.
That's it, have fun!
P.S.: Side Deck for a flex build.
