The Goal

The goal of this deck is to upgrade Archaic Glyphs to Archaic Glyphs and be able to find a lot of clues with only spending one action consistently. When I used this deck I played with 3 investigators and was the only one capable of seeking. So I wanted to find up to 9 clues by only spending one action every time I needed to. I do not recommend this deck for less then 3 investigators and DO NOT SOLO. You have no fighting capability and once you face an enemy you are dead. You need someone to babysit you.

Starting Hand

Not Much to be said here. If you don't have Old Book of Lore or Dr. Milan Christopher, Throw everything away. If you have one of the two, throw the rest away. Simple as 1,2,3.

Upgrades

Your number 1 priority is the main Engine, Archaic Glyphs to Archaic Glyphs twice.

Higher Education is amazing, you have amazing draw power and will always have 5+ cards and can spend all resources Dr. Milan Christopher gave you to find EVERYTHING.

Maximize your drawing power with Cryptic Research.

If you feel like your drawing power is not enough take Eidetic Memory to have 2 extra Cryptic Research's.

Then upgrade your Magnifying Glass so you can take it back after every clue has been found.

Make your 9/12 clues at once easier with Deduction. But grab yourself some paper because math is hard :(

Since you have 2 spell slots you can make the other investigators help you with Arcane Insight.

You could take Encyclopedia to make your job even easier and help others when you don't need it but it's up to you.

For Cards you can take Recharge or Book of Shadows to charge your Archaic Glyphs if it runs out to quickly.

If after all of this you still have XP you can take Time Warp to prevent that annoying from getting all of your clues and you just spend all your resources and skill cards. This happened to me and I got traumatised ever since D:

Since you're in multiplayer, and your weakness give you some horror, what about taking Logical Reasoning? Great deck and description, I like the idea behind it!

@simongeorgesYeah you could definitely put that one in. I would say get rid of Flashlight since it doesn't combo with Archaic Glyphs.

Wait, you're playing Desperate Search with 9 sanity? Did you actually play this deck?

Let's assume you have all the pieces together (Higher Education, Archaic Glyphs, 2x Magnifying Glass, Dr. Milan Christopher in play). That brings you to 8. Let's say we spend 7 ressources to increase to 22. On a shroud 4 location on normal difficulty, you'd have reasonable chance to succeed and get them all. In this example Perception would save 1 resource and Deduction 2 3 of them. So is it really worth it? Most seeker assets are very cheap, so if you played Dr. Milan Christopher early, you've got a high chance to be swimming in ressources in mid to late game. i think that's a very viable strategy.

What about Backpack to search for Magnifying Glass and Old Book of Lore?

@DjangoSince we were playing The Path To Carocosa campaign we took quite a lot of horror and with St. Hubert's Key I could almost use Desperate Search everytime I needed to find 6 or 9 clues but you definitely could replace it with something you think is better. And about Backpack, I honestly didn't even know that card existed. We don't own The Forgotten Age expansion yet, but I will probably edit this deck as soon as we get it. Thanks for your feedback ;)

@MaleficMarby how may other investigators help you if you include Arcane Insight?

Jul 20, 2018 MaleficMarby · 31

@santacruz By lowering the shroud by 2 the check gets much easier. And if the shroud is 2 or lower it's almost and ensured succeed. If that investigator has Lantern or Flashlight in play, the shroud can be 3/4 for an "ensured" succeed.

@MaleficMarbySorry, I don't get it.

I understand perfectly that if shroud is reduced by 2 points it's easier to get clues on that location. And that a Lantern or Flashlight will make it even easier. But if I'm playing Daisy and I include Arcane Insight in my deck and I put it in play, how can others help me? I can help them to investigate by reducing the shroud or I can help myself activating it during my turn, but I cannot see how could they help me...

Jul 20, 2018 Nenananas · 248

@santacruzI think he meant "help find clues" as you make it easier for them to search. So not "helping you with checks" or something.

Jul 20, 2018 MaleficMarby · 31

@santacruz Yeah what @Nenananas said. I might have explained it wrongly but I meant if 6/9 clues at once is to difficult the other investigator(s) could help you with the clues you failed to get. With Arcane Insight they could do the clean-up better and easier. But there are many other options you can spend XP on if you don't think it's good enough for 4 XP and after that 3 Resources.

@MaleficMarby @Nenananas OK, now I get it. You help other investigators to gather clues too. :)
