A simple Marie deck that uses no allies. Marie relies on herself to take on the Mythos! This is primarily for True Solo, but you can easily adjust it for multiplayer depending on your role.

  • Before the game starts, take In the Thick of It to purchase Blood Pact at deck creation. Arcane Research or Down the Rabbit Hole can also be bought to help xp acceleration. Watch your traumas, and adjust accordingly.

  • With only a single doom on the board, Marie can use her free action to fight (Shrivelling, Spectral Razor, Blood-Rite), evade (Ethereal Form), investigate (Sixth Sense, Clairvoyance), draw cards (Blood-Rite), or heal (Soothing Melody).

  • Moonlight Ritual helps to manage the doom on Blood Pact, can also be used with Marie's free action as well. Rack up the doom on Blood Pact then swat it all way with your free action before the agenda advances. You can even freeze the agenda with Mystifying Song, rack up more doom, then dump it all.

  • For economy, Voice of Ra can also be used with Marie's free action, though it is mediocre. Uncage the Soul helps a great deal with spell costs, but it is not a spell, so it unfortunately can't be used with Marie's ability. It also requires an action, so it can't be used with Mystifying Song either, and will occur an Attack of Opportunity when used with Spectral Razor. Can't have it all, I suppose!

  • Scroll of Secrets helps thin the deck, and potentially avoid dealing with your weakness on important turns. If you feel safe in the amount of mental trauma you have, you can substitute Fearless with Eureka!, just to give yourself a little more card draw. Blood-Rite also helps cycle your deck; you can always use it to simply draw 2 cards without paying the rest of its cost.

  • Promise of Power helps pass important tests (such as evading scary monsters in a pinch when you don't have your combat spells out). Deny Existence, Holy Rosary, Fearless, and Soothing Melody from Hallowed Mirror help keep your sanity and health in check.

  • Since there are no allies in this deck, no need for Charisma, but you are always free to take it. Baron Samedi can kill off certain story allies that have the ally slot icon, so be aware of that.

  • Sometimes you will advance the agenda early. It happens. This is not that bad in solo because the extra actions you get can often times make up for lost agenda rounds, and sometimes even surpass it. This is not so great in multiplayer, however, so make sure you play with people that are very understanding and won't give you dirty looks!

  • Upgrading is fairly simple: just take whatever upgraded spells you feel like with the discount provided by Arcane Research or Down the Rabbit Hole (or both if you really like xp!). I usually swap Clairvoyance for Divination, but your mileage may vary. Suggestion is also very good in Marie as well.
