THE HYPERBOREAN RED CROSS WANTS YOU!
Introduction
Cults of the Outer Gods are devastating North America. In Egypt, the dogs growl at each other's throats. The Ravages of War haunt the globe. Now more than ever, healers are needed, sapients dedicated to binding up what their kin have sundered, purifying what others have polluted, healing the horror and damage others have dealt.
Agnes Baker has come to answer that call.

Main Strategy
- Use Agnes Baker's sanity as a resource, either to discover clues, draw cards, or deal damage.
- Keep yourself in the game with Earthly Serenity, Moment of Respite, and Hallowed Chalice.
Whenever They're Needed
- With Forbidden Knowledge, Painkillers, and Mysterious Raven, you should be able to reliably trigger Agnes' ability in any phase.
- Tip: There's a player window during the enemy phase after hunters move but before enemies attack.
First, Do No Harm
You might be a trained war mage, but in this deck, your first focus is on saving lives.
Minimizing Harm to Oneself
-
Obviously, Shrivelling and your investigator ability will allow you to avoid a fair amount of harm by eliminating a threat before it can hurt you.
-
For other threats, like Conglomeration of Spheres, you're more focused on making sure you can grind them down before they do the same to you. Don't panic if you have to stay engaged with an enemy or take an attack of opportunity; so long as you have a method of taking horror, you can simply whittle the enemy down.
Building Up Peace
-
On turns where you don't have to deal with enemies, you can focus on your true calling, helping keep yourself and your allies in the game.
-
Agnes Baker neatly solves the problem of healing (it doesn't actually make you more likely to win): every point of sanity she heals is another potential point of damage to an enemy.
-
Try to use all the charges on Earthly Serenity at once to be as action-efficient as possible, and to get a good target for Sacrifice quickly.
-
Hallowed Chalice gives you something to use spare actions on, and while you're engaged with an enemy that does 1 horror on an attack, it basically reads ": Deal 1 damage to an enemy engaged with you (Limit once per phase)."
Other Cards
- Ward of Protection: Generic support card, cancellation is good. Also gives you a Mythos trigger for Agnes!
- Take Heart: Card draw and resources are good, and should be fairly easy to trigger just by investigating.
- Blood Will Have Blood: As an attrition-based deck, we're more likely to be attacked, and our only Allies only have 1 sanity, so taking the damage/horror ourselves isn't as big of a cost.
- Astral Travel: Emergency escape button on big maps like The Unspeakable Oath.
Make Your Own Deck!
Aside from obvious upgrades that were excluded simply to stay under the 19 XP threshold (Guts, Shrivelling), there are a few potential tools to add to your medic's bag:
- Spirit of Humanity could be interesting as a way to either trigger or heal Agnes.
- Versatile + Hallowed Mirror would force you to either drop Holy Rosary or get Relic Hunter, but Soothing Melody is almost perfect for support decks.
- Talisman of Protection could be used as a pseudo-St. Hubert's Key, even one you can gift to your allies.
