Are horrifying monsters always interrupting your landscape painting sessions? Are criminals and sneks bugging you with their incessant need of "money" and "blood"? Maybe you just want to enjoy a nice lunch on a train without some rowdy passenger blocking your way to the bathroom.
Well worry no more! Sefina Rousseau is here and she's just what your party needs to get moving, and quick! With a mix of economy cards like Lone Wolf and Pickpocketing, defensive insurance like Narrow Escape and Trench Coat, and even some test-independent clue gathering from Intel Report and Drawn to the Flame, Sefina will never be dead weight on your team, probably. Experts can time Double or Nothing with Quick Thinking on an otherwise simple agility test to get extra actions, and later on this can be used with Lockpicks and Streetwise to gather extra clues as well! Even Shrivelling can join in on the fun with a few boosts from skill cards and Narrow Escape!
So what are you waiting for? Order your copy of Sefina today, for only an indeterminate number of measly payments of $999.99!
Upgrade Path:
- Streetwise (3 XP)
- 2x David Renfield 2x Lola Santiago (3 XP each)
- 2x Flashlight 2x Lockpicks (1 XP each)
- 2x Pickpocketing 2x Pickpocketing (2) (2 XP each)
- 2x Shrivelling 2x Suggestion (4 XP each) or Emergency Cache & 1x Intel Report 2x Hot Streak (4) More on this in notes section.
Optional Upgrades:
2x Sure Gamble. This is a bit costly to include but greatly synergizes with Double or Nothing. Works best as a replacement for Daring Maneuver.
Charon's Obol. You take a big risk with this card, in addition to the opportunity cost of having to buy it early instead of Streetwise, but if you want this deck to reach its best potential then it's worth thinking about.
Adaptable. Always worthy of consideration. Perhaps you'll need more evade and less fight for a particular scenario, in which case swap Backstab for Slip Away. Or perhaps it's a scenario light on clue gathering, in which case swap Drawn to the Flame for Swift Reflexes. Or if you really need to dish our some pain, elect to swap for some copies of Sneak Attack.
Notes:
Hot Streak (4) versus Suggestion:
These are quite XP intensive. Hot Streak has great Synergy with Lola Santiago and Streetwise and can be copied with The Painted World, but this build is much more about consistent evasion. This is certainly a more adaptable way to build the deck and works better for solo mode if you're having trouble getting enough clues (and also preserves Shrivelling if you do need to dish out damage consistently for whatever reason). However Suggestion is both incredible insurance and a way to evade once a turn for a base skill of 9 with Lola Santiago out, 10 with Trench Coat. Between it, Streetwise, and Slip Away if you adapt for it, you should have no problem over-succeeding on evades and getting extra actions from Quick Thinking and Double or Nothing.
Also I don't suggest Hot Streak (2) even as a 1 of. If you draw it in Sefina's opening hand it's strictly better than E-Cache, and you can copy it a few times for value, but E-Cache's big advantage is being playable when you don't have resources, and I think that consistency is better. The Level 4 version on the other hand is both cheaper and grants 7 resources net, which is significantly better than E-Cache's 3, so it's a worthwhile replacement, especially as a 2 of when you'll see it often in the opening hand.
