I want to write a very simple and basic review to this old amazing card. You drew this card but its not that amazing? Instead of moving with basic action use this and use your action that you would use to move to draw. If anything this card makes your deck thinner. It can be good or bad depending on your weaknesses but if you want to have less cards in your deck you can consider putting this into your deck especially if you are moving to some degree (or its multiplayer and you can play this for your friends)

I think this card doesn't do much but still extremly powerful for being so flexible without any cost

Eye of Ghatanothoa

Maybe my favorite card from Drowned City so far. This one obviously pairs well with Gloria, but also does quite well with the Book version of Norman Withers. This turns a copy of Foresight into an even better version of Ward of Protection. Even if you don’t build in tech that allows you to manipulate the encounter deck, at the very least it will make it easier to optimize your turns to put yourself in the best position to succeed. This card is similar to Lone Wolf in that it gets more powerful at lower player counts.

Split the Angle from Norman Withers are better I'd say, — Fontanez · 6
Since you can trigger Split the Angle's free action to discard the unwanted encounter card right after Upkeep Phase, or when a teammate resolving encounter cards. And definitely a mutual support with Alyssa Graham. Now she can look at your teammates' top card to guard them from the weakness. — Fontanez · 6
Katarina Sojka

I want to share a light onto this card, during a session I played lately, a friend of mine pulled out this combo that made me realize this card is more than meet the eyes:

He plays Charlie Kane, classes were Guardian and Mystic, constantly ready Venturer to bump ammo into his .32 Colt (return to hand by Calling in Favors then play again through Motivational Speech)

Then he plays Eat Lead! lv2 spent 17 ammo, and at the 16th token, he triggered Katarina to reveal another 5 tokens. The guy almost pulled out the entire chaos bags.

Why you ask? so he can see all 10 curse tokens, followed by Drawn Star to deal 10 DMG straight to the boss's face.

Now it was a three player game so the boss is not dead yet, but that 10 DMG was quite shocking, while I don't think his combo was the best highlight of Katarina, there definitely more to her than just passing the test

Because the trigger for Katarina is "when you reveal tokens" rather than "when you would reveal a token," it's not clear whether you're supposed to be able to use her on one token of a multi-token pull. Possibly she's supposed to replace all other tokens you would have revealed, or ignore them. — OrionAnderson · 128
Yeah, OrionAnderson is right (or not, because in fact it IS clear). The wording is different from Olive McBride. At this point they should just directly mention framework steps to avoid this confusion. — AlderSign · 418
While I agree that mention framework steps will be good. There is a center charm in experiment different combo is see what is possible, take Robert Castaigne lv4 for example, right now his text said you may so you could choose NOT to discard the gun and thus have a free attack every turn for ever. And the dev said: yeah, have fun — LoveApple · 10
Mind's Eye

Used it to great effect with Patrice through Dream Eaters. This, plus Miss Doyle, plus Summoned Hounds, plus Familiars and double Charisma to run the zoo. I didn't used Mind's Eye for all possible checks for I normally had at least +2 to commit in my hand, and Patrice is uniquely suited to always draw at least something useful.

So in the end I didn't test for lower than 4, ever (and usually tested 5). Didn't get lots of +1 damage/+1 clue on my cards, but lots of actions. And I drew Dendromorphosis as Basic Weakness, so decided not to rely on hands for Sign Magic.

This card does well as backup, but also requires some sort of another deck engine. Naturally, it fits good for event- or skill-based decks. And, I guess, for decks running Binder's Jar for unlimited Arcane slots.

Spectral Shield

With Diana Stanley, after cancelling the damage/horror on any card, her instantly triggers, putting this card under her immediately (assuming you meet the condition).

  1. You get to draw a card from her ability.
  2. You played this card technically for free with the 1 resource from her ability.
  3. You cancelled 1 damage/horror.
  4. You don't spend any charge from your cards, and also You must complete the full effect, so you must have to spend a charge. At least you are still able to banish the charge black hole.
  5. If you needed the shield to stay, just spend the charges from your cards like normal, and decide whether to put under her the next time this card effect triggers (assuming you have not triggered her in that same game phase).

I don't know where you get the idea from, but the rules contradict with your explanation: https://arkhamdb.com/rules#Effects — AlderSign · 418
Wouldn't Diana's reaction triggers directly after the cancel/ignore effect? This is a "Fast" card, I could play this card before I take damage/horror and have this card cancel the said damage/horror. Unless you mean when spectral shield effect triggers and I have no charges, it'll go into discard directly without triggering Diana's reaction, or if I have any charges I need to remove one of it, then put it under Diana? — wolfehart · 1
Since it's forced I don't think you get to choose to keep your charges. This should work if you have no charges since you cancelled something and stick it under her, but if you have charges you HAVE to spend them. — Spamamdorf · 5
Ah, so it has to be only when it is discarded then I am able to add it under Diana? — wolfehart · 1
Yes, the whole paragraph is the effect, not each sentence a separate one. Therefore you must resolve as much as possible (including spending charges) before triggering Diana. — AlderSign · 418
Diana can stick cards under her without them needing to be discarded. You can stick it under her when spending charges or when its about to leave. — Spamamdorf · 5
